TAITRA (the Taiwan External Trade Development Council) is Taiwan's foremost non-profit trade promotion organization. Sponsored by the government and industrial and commercial associations, TAITRA assists Taiwan businesses and manufacturers with reinforcing their international competetiveness and coping with the challenges faced in foreign markets. Throughout past decades, TAITRA has developed well-coordinated trade promotion and information networks. TAITRA's purpose is twofold, as it also undertakes many initiatives to assist foreign businesses with establishing a wider presence in Taiwan.

The Council totals over 600 specialists - all focused on making TAITRA a leading world class international trade promotion organization. With headquarters in Taipei, four local branch offices are situated in Hsinchu, Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung; 56 overseas branch offices are established worldwide. In association with its sister organisations, the Taiwan Trade Center, Inc. (TTC) and the Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC), TAITRA constantly adapts its trade promotion strategies to changing international conditions.
